Islam defines woman's status as daughter, wife and mother and gives her personal and social rights, thus insuring her active participation in society from the outset. The rights and obligations of Muslim women as decreed by the Islamic Law have undergone varying degrees of interpretation according to the predominant school of law in any given time and place. The Muslim woman's basic equality with man and her distinctive identity and personality are recognized in specific terms in the Holy Quran. In spite of this, the prejudice and inadequate interpretation of the Muslim women's rights are actually prevailed in these days. In order to avoid the cultural conflicts, the mutual understanding to the other's culture is hereby generally required.
