This study examined the relationship between parents' perceptions on the rights of their children and their child-rearing attitudes and further explored the relative influences the parental perceptions had on their child-rearing attitudes. This study used a scale for examining the degree of parental perception on the rights of the child, which was identified through a pilot survey targeting a total of 380 parents (an equal number of fathers and mothers) with children under age 5 in Busan and a questionnaire for investigating the parental child-rearing attitude. The questionnaires were distributed via mails to and collected from previously arranged nursery facilities. The data collected were statistically analyzed, using SPSSWIN 12.0 program. The results revealed that, firstly, mothers placed more emphases on the right to live than do the fathers. Secondly, the more thoughts parents gave to the rights of their children, the more positive attitudes they held in their child-rearing practices. Thirdly, some differences between mothers and fathers were found in regards to the impacts the sub-factors of their perceptions on the children's rights bear upon their child-rearing attitudes. Some implications for the imperative needs of parent education were discussed.
