Job can be called as the “tragic hero” of Book of Job who was forced to fall down in the extremely tragic situation because God enjoyed to test him, as he chose Job as a perfect example among men. It is an irony that underlies the verse drama. Job can be said to have got to the top of human ability. Through his great challenge to God which was resulted in his total defeat, Job showed that there exists not a mortal human being who has anything to boast of before God. God, who is absolute, is called to be always right. Job finds God's justice to be unfathomable. His justice is incomprehensible beyond any human reason or understanding. And His freedom is limitless. Is His limitless freedom justifiable? In his fearsome challenge to God Job persists in rejecting ‘faith in retributive justice’ with which his friends persistently preaches him. However, in not replacing it with any other faith Job has his characteristic situation felt. In issuing his most resolute and honest challenge to God, Job had his existence itself threatened. He came to comprehend the unique transience of life and experience the almightiness of God. His challenge to God resulted in a crushing defeat, with the possibility of salvation developed by the channel between God and man. As far as Job couldn’t answer any question God asks, Job cannot but return the world to Him with his justice and freedom. In order to set himself free from the laws enslaving him, man let God be released from the laws imposed upon Him, with his poetry and words returned to Him. Likewise, in order to rescue his future, man has to return the future to God. What matters is not the image or law which was set up to rule out the present and future and cancel the past, but logos or the word of God in the present which is to revive the future and past. Book of Job leads us to agree with the poet who confesses that God’s justice can never be grasped by human understanding but it can only be admired by man.
