Single or couple elderly households are increasing with population ageing. Recently it has been issued that the housing-welfare for the low income group who is likely to be dependent subject in city area. The purpose of this study is to identify characteristics of residential environment satisfaction of low-income elderly households in urban areas according to residential type, single/couple and housing type (apartment, detached housing, multi-family housing. This study was conducted through one to one interview survey and group random sampling, targeting 175 seniors over 65 residing in Seoul. The data were analyzed via SPSS (Statistical Package for the Social Science). The Overall satisfaction distribution level showed a little higher than the average on a basis of the review on satisfaction level average per item and satisfaction radio per scale. And the case of living in apartment is relatively higher than living in detached housing and multi-family housing. Senior citizens who live alone showed the lowest satisfaction level when they live in a detached house. This study has connotation for the countermeasure of housing-welfare for single-elderly households.
