This paper aimed to identify the approach to improve the service in a hair salon by investigating the psychological changed related to the hair styles on the basis of the existing studies and so providing the basic data for the research on psychological change depending on hair styles. First, the internal and external factors in accordance with the change of hairstyles were investigated for change of image using hairstyles. In accordance with the analysis results by gender, age, marital status, and job as the external factors, the significant difference by gender was not identified. However, the significant difference by age, marital status, and job were identified. Accordingly, the external factors by hair designers’ recommendation had more impact. For the internal factors, the significant difference was found in gender, age, marital status, and job. It indicated the variety of internal factors in the change of hairstyle. The stress from families or societies and the psychological status when changing the hairstyles for change of image in hair salons were analyzed. The psychological status showed the progressive attitude when trying to change hairstyles because the analysis results showed the statistically similar levels of stress. It was also found that the psychological status or stress had significant impact on the change of hairstyles or psychological stability. The results indicated that hairstyles had substantial impact on psychological status or relief of stress. Furthermore, it was identified that the psychological status of clients helped to relieve stress hidden in clients’ mind while they discussed the hairstyles with hair designers and then changed their hairstyles.
