The 23rd Olympic Winter Games will be held in Pyeong-chang from February 9th, 2013 through February 25th. If a sporting event such as the Olympics is organized and executed successfully,there are various social and economic benefits to the region, as well as the country that has hosted such an event. Likewise, insufficient planning for such events may bring about environmental as well as financial problems to the region and the country. In order to host the Pyeong-chang Winter Olympics successfully, we must take into consideration and fully understand the many variables that attribute to a successful event: Credibility, Participation, Standard and Trust. For this reason, from September 13rd to October 12th, 2012, we surveyed 140 opinion leaders ranging from civil servants to private organizations that were centered on the city Gang-neung. Survey results have revealed that although there were high expectations for the Olympics, the confidence that the event will be successful was low. Therefore, it is extremely urgent for us to put together an action plan to restore confidence in the community in all fronts. It is also important for us to implement special initiatives in things that are related to the tourism industry; of these are stores and shops that will receive a lot of traffic due to the Olympics event. It is imperative that the special initiative includes teaching these stores and shops how to serve and interact with tourists in a polite and respectable way.
