The purpose of the present study is to analyze tourists demand of the 2018 Pyeongchang Winter Olympics with the detailed purposes as follows: 1) to forecast domestic tourists of the 2018 Olympics by utilizing demand forecasting techniques, 2) to give suggestions concerning the government plans for the Olympics and efficient use of marketing strategies, 3) to serve as s stepping stone for the academic development of demand forecasting by trying academic approach to demand forecasting for the 2018 Olympics. To satisfy the purpose of the present study, the actual number of the participants and athletes at the Winter Olympic Games from 1924 to 2014 was analyzed. Holt’s exponential smoothing method was employed and the forecast value accuracy of Holt’s model was validated by using the MAPE value, which indicates the relative accuracy. It is hoped that the results of the present study will contribute to reducing budget waste and providing adequate facilities including accommodations.
