이 연구는 범죄예방(Crime Prevention)에 있어서 공공재인 경찰의 부족한 부분을 채워주는 자율방범대의 성과인식을 네트워크 특성으로 분석하였다. 네트워크 특성인 밀도, 중심성, 구조적 공백을 독립변수로 범죄예방활동 만족과 지역 범죄발생 감소인식에 대한 분석이다. 이러한 연구방법은 범죄학(Criminology)분야에서 처음 시도했다는 점에서 시사하는 바가 크다. 연구문제는 천안 범죄안전도시 자율방범대의 범죄예방활동 만족에 있어서 네트워크 특성인 밀도가 미치는 영향분석을 하였다. 또한 자율방범대는 자발적 참여로 만들어진 봉사조직이라는 것을 감안하여 직위, 경력, 생활수준이 미치는 영향은 어떠한가를 알아보기로 했다. 그 결과 천안 범죄안전도시 자율방범대의 경우 지역적 특성에 따라 범죄예방활동 만족에 차이를 보였다. 직위, 계급, 생활수준을 통제하여 분석한 결과 도ㆍ농협 복합도시의 자율방범대는 직위와 생활수준에 따라 범죄예방활동 만족과 지역 범죄발생 감소인식에 많은 영향을 미쳤다. 이는 자율방범활동에 있어서 대원들끼리 서로 의지하며 지역을 위해 봉사한다는 의미를 도출한다. 선행연구의 결과는 밀도가 높으면 성과를 높일 수 있다고 했다. 그러나 이 연구에서는 높은 밀도를 보일 경우 범죄예방활동 만족이 낮게 나타났다. 즉, 직위, 계급, 생활수준에 따른 결과와 같이 해석할 수 있는데, 상업화된 자율방범대의 경우 자발적 참여조직이기는 하지만 사적인 욕구를 충족하기 위한 결과로 해석된다. 상업화된 자율방범대의 밀도를 측정한 결과 영향력 있는 대장, 총무, 부대장 등에 집중되어 있었다.

This study analyzed the performance awareness of voluntary guard corps by network characteristics, which complements the insufficient parts of police which is commons in crime prevention. It is an analysis on crime prevention activity satisfaction and awareness of regional crime occurrence reduction considering density that are characteristics of network as independent variables. It is suggestive that this study method was initially tried in the criminology field. This study analyzed crime prevention activity satisfaction of voluntary guard corps of Cheonan crime safe city and difference analysis of awareness of district crime occurrence reduction and effects that density which are network characteristics give. Also, Considering that voluntary guard corps is a service organization made by voluntary participation, it planed to find out how is the effect that position, career, and life standard give. As a result of that, Cheonan crime safe city voluntary guard corps showed difference between crime prevention activity satisfaction and awareness of regional crime occurrence reduction following regional characteristics. However, as a result of analyzing by controlling position, rank, and life standard, the voluntary guard corps of province · agricultural cooperative complex city much affected crime prevention activity satisfaction and the awareness of regional crime occurrence reduction. It deduces the meaning that members relied on each other and served the region during voluntary crime prevention activity. The result of precedented study indicated that if the density was high, we can raise the performance. However, in this study, if the density is high, crime prevention activity satisfaction and the awareness of regional crime occurrence reduction appeared low. That is, we can interpret like the result following position, rank, and life standard, in case of commercialized voluntary guard corps, it is interpreted that although it is a voluntarily participated organization, it is a result for meeting the private need. As a result of measuring the density of commercialized voluntary guard corps, it was concentrated on the powerful chief, director, and vice chief, and the same on the central department. According to an interview with a member of voluntary guard corps on this concentrated phenomena, most members of voluntary guard corps was selling the goods or doing a business.
