In this research, the previously developed modules which used familiar materials that can be easily found in everyday life were applied to the on-line experimental group and the off-line experimental group who conducted hands-on activities and their application effects on both groups were compared. The idea for the developed modules in this study was based on the subject contents in the “Structure and Functions of Plants” for the eighth graders. Web virtual laboratory was constructed using the contents of the previously developed modules and three of them were organized to fit into total six class hours. Teachers could evaluate students’ responses to their questions and then have the students submit lab reports as a form of e-book. All the contents were recorded and explained as flashes and in some parts of the laboratory, students could have an option to choose which direction to go. When the developed modules were applied to eighth grader students, it was found that on-line and off-line experimental group showed a statistically significant improvement in some elements of their science process skills compared to the control group. While the on-line experimental group showed a significant improvement in the elements of ‘Predicting' and ‘Data Interpretation', the off-line experimental group showed a significant enhancement in the elements of ‘Observing' and ‘Classifying'. Also, there was a significant improvement in the area of positive attitudes towards science class in both experimental groups. Moreover, both experimental groups showed a significant enhancement in the concept achievement compared to the control group.
