This study was done to identify the cognition of multicultural families in hospital nurses. The subjects were 166 who are working to general hospital which are located in Seoul. The data collected January, 2011 were analyzed by SPSS program, using descriptive statistics, t-test, ANOVA, and Pearson's correlation. The average of each variable are as follows: Cognition of multicultural families 2.80 (0.34) points, acceptance of diverse family 12.89 (4.24) points, cultural competence 3.33 (0.46) points. Difference in cognition of multicultural families according to general characteristics was age. And groups with a high degree of family diversity, and cultural competence are open to multicultural families. Also the relationship between cognition of multicultural families and acceptance a variety of family showed positive correlations. To eliminate prejudice against multicultural families and contribute to the health care plan effective interventions are needed.
