The purpose of this study is to analyze how the group music therapy impacts on self-control, social interaction and stress for the internet-addicted students in elementary school to propose possibility of using as a way of problem solving for internet addiction. The group music therapy is given to internet-addicted students in fifth and sixth grades among which seven participants are in an experimental group and ten are in a control group. The total of seventeen students is given the therapy twice a week, which sums up to fourteen times in the entire experiment. The indexes to observe the effects of musical therapy include self diagnosis of internet addiction (K standard), self control, social interaction and stress. To measure the changes of before and after musical therapy, ANCOVA is used as a method for a statistical analysis. And the findings are as follows. The improved items in experimental group compared to those in control group were positive expectation, withdrawal, virtual interpersonal relationship and deviant behavior in the level of internet addiction. The improved items in the experimental group compared to those in control group were the degree of seeking long-term satisfaction and immediate satisfaction in the level of self control. In the level of social interaction, the improvement items in experimental group compared to those in control group were self assertion, empathy, self control and cooperation. The improved items in experimental group compared to those in control group were parental area, home environmental area, friend area, study area and school area in the level of stress. As shown on the findings, most of participants in the experimental group demonstrate a progress in internet addiction, self-control and social interaction and a decrease in stress level. Therefore, this research proves that the group music therapy has a positive impact on self-control, social interaction and stress for the internet-addicted students in elementary school.
