Obecties To identify whether pattern identification using nasal endoscopy for rhinitis can be applied as a tool for ealuating rhinitis in routine care setting, we performed a interrater reliability study on this pattern identification. Methods Two orean medicine doctors assessed 290 leftright nasal endoscopy photograph cases of rhinitis patients with pattern identification using nasal endoscopy. This pattern identification consist of four assessment items, nasal membrane color(palehyperemia), nasal membrane humidity(drynessdampness), rhinorrhea(wateryyellow), and turbinate membrane edema(atrophicedematous). Cohens kappa statistic and Percentage agreement were used to ealuate the interrater reliability. Results Interrater percentage agreement and appa coefficient for left nasal endoscopy photograph cases was from slight to moderate( agreement 40.0067.59appa 0.060.407). Only the agreement of rhinorrhea (wateryyellow) item was moderate( agreement 67.59appa 0.407). Interrater percentage agreement and appa coefficient for right nasal endoscopy photograph cases was also from slight to moderate( agreement 42.4168.97appa 0.1090.465). Only the agreement of rhinorrhea(wateryyellow) item was moderate( agreement 68.97appa 0.465). Conclusions It is necessary to resole problems such as cutoff alue setting, bipolar ealuation alues(palehyperemia, drynessdampness, wateryyellow, atrophicedematous) and weighting items. Further rigorous studies that oercome the limitations of the current research are warranted.
