As everyone knows, parts & materials industry is playing a great role in the balanced development of a nation's economy, and might have a direct influence on the export outcome of the whole economy. Further, parts & materials determine the competitiveness such as the quality, price and performance of finished products, so they operate as a key factor in the competitiveness of a national manufacturing business. To make an analysis of only the ‘parts industry' among the domestic parts & materials industry, its trade surplus amounted to 65.76 billion dollars exceeding the size of the overall trade surplus based on 2010 by more than 20 billion dollars. In addition, parts industry has been steadily continuing its trade surplus from 2002 until the present of 2010. On the contrary, ‘materials industry' is maintaining its trade surplus basis from the year 1996 as the starting point of producing a trade surplus amounting to 610 million dollars until the present, but its ups and downs are severe. In the light of the reality of domestic materials industry, such a phenomenon suggests that the more focus of cultivation of the further parts & materials industry should be put on ‘materials industry.'This study is going to suggest the further task and cultivation strategy with focus on ‘materials industry' by analyzing the present situation & trend of export and import of detailed items.
