In January 18th, 1952, the South Korean government proclaimed the Peace Line as a sea boundary line. Within the Peace Line, the conflict between the old imperialistic nation and its old colony existed upon the remaining structure of the Cold War. The overlaps of the Peace Line’s contradictions created numerous interpretations of its characteristics.
In this article, the implication of overlapping contradictions within the Peace Line is elucidated through tracing the logic process regarding the creation of the Peace Line. Moreover, it provides a standard for understanding the order in the surrounding seas of the Korean peninsula in 1950s, when the conflict between Korea and Japan had been revived with the memory of imperialism and colonization in the Cold War.
In order to illustrate the order of the East Sea, North Korea, Russia, and China must be taken to consideration. But this article elucidates the order of the East Sea attaching importance to Korea. Therefore, this article will serve as a outlook in understanding the order of the East Sea in the 1950s.
