Most B, which constitutes a reiteration of the morpheme BB of the ABB-type adjective, is the first tone. BB, which consists of the first tone B, is read in the first tone in the ABB-type adjective. Besides BB, which consists of the second tone B, the third tone B and the fourth tone B are read in the original tone of B, or changed into the first tone. Provided that BB has a low standard of grammaticalization, BB is generally read in the original tone of B. On the contrary, provided that the meaning of BB is ambiguous, BB is generally changed into the first tone. But BB of the ABB-type adjective, which is frequently used with BB that is read in the original tone of B, is sometimes changed into the first tone. In other words, the more frequently the ABB type adjective is used, the more easily is BB changed into the first tone. Some BB has a variant form. If one type of the variant form is composed of B that is read in the first tone, and the other type is composed of B that is not read in the first tone, these BBs of variant form all are read in the first tone. So, under certain conditions, BB is sometimes changed into the first tone.
