The purpose of this study was to investigate the effect of proactive personality and communication ability on happiness of students. Questionnaires were distributed to sampled 198 undergraduate students located in Daejeon City and used proactive personality scale, communication ability scale, happiness scale. The data was analyzed by correlation analysis and regression analysis. The results of this study were summarized as follows. First, the correlation between proactive personality and happiness showed a significant positive correlation. This means that the higher the proactive personality, the higher the happiness. Second, the correlation between communication ability and happiness showed significant positive correlation. This means that the higher the communication ability, the higher the happiness. Third, regression analysis of the effect of the proactive personality and communication ability on happiness showed that communication ability had more influence on happiness than proactive personality. Therefore, it is suggested that a variety of programs should be developed to increase the communication ability as well as to improve the proactive personality of individuals in order to increase the happiness of students. Finally, the implications and limitations of this study were discussed.
