The hierarchical task that a hero accomplishes means a narrative structure that describes how a hero achieves the final victory after defeating the head of his enemy. In this structure, the hero has to fight combats with several lower ranking fighters according to their hierarchical orders before he faces his archenemy. This narrative structure focuses on the hierarchical aspect of fights that a heroic main character has to be through. As for the hierarchical task in Kwanikjungjeon and Yuchungryoljeon, a hero of Kwanikjungjeon defeats enemies one by one and after wining all the combat, he meets his final enemy. After the hero defeats his counterpart, he achieves his goal. A hero of Yuchungryoljeon achieves the task after defeating the traitors by his heroic act, and saves the country and revenges his personal enemy. This study examines the narrative effect when hierarchical task is used for a novel in aspects of both authors and readers. As for an author, first, using hierarchical task makes it easy for an author to write the hero epic. Second, using hierarchical task, the author can make heroic act of the main character stand out. Third, the author effectively reveals the theme through the main character who defeats his enemy step by step. As for readers, first hierarchial task increase readers' interest in the novel and second it evokes tension and relaxation of readers.
