Fourteen Bacillus thuringiensis isolates havingboth insecticidal activity and in vitro antifungal activity wereselected and tested for in vivo antifungal activity againsttomato late blight, wheat leaf rust, tomato gray mold, andbarley powdery mildew in growth chambers. All the isolatesrepresented more than 70% disease control efficacy against atleast one of four plant diseases. Specifically, 12 isolates exhibitedglashouse conditions, four (50-02, 52-08, 52-16, and 52-18) of the isolates also displayed potent control efficacyagainst cucumber powdery mildew. To our knowledge, this isthe first report of B. thuringiensis isolates that have diseasecontrol efficacy against powdery mildew of barley andcumber as well as insecticidal activity.
