The purpose of this study is to identify the effects of students’ stress, self-esteem, and meaning in life on adjustment to university life. For this purpose, a total of 442 questionnaires were analyzed using frequency analysis, Pearson’s Correlation and stepwise multiple regression. The results were as follows. First, adjustment to university life was negatively correlated with stress, but had significant positive correlation with self-esteem and meaning in life. Second, students’ stress, self-esteem, and meaning in life were significant variables in predicting adjustment to university life. Breaking analysis down to sub-factors for adjustment to university life, major satisfaction was influenced by presence of meaning and stress; interpersonal relations by self-esteem and stress; academic adjustment by self-esteem, stress, and presence of meaning. Adjustment to university life overall was affected by self-esteem, stress, and presence of meaning. These results imply the importance of efforts to lower students’ stress levels and enhance self-esteem and meaning in life in order to encourage better adjustment to university life.
