High floors of super-tall buildings have different characteristics of the exterior environment than low floors of super-tall buildings and low-rise buildings due to the high-rise. Super-tall buildings also have more high level of airtightness due to increased wind speed in high floors. Therefore, high floors of super-tall buildings have different sensible and latent heating and cooling load ratio, size and frequency than low-rise buildings. Since super-tall residential buildings have high level of airtightness and are difficult to open windows, dehumidification is required from air conditioning to remove moisture generated form inside. Although indoor air can be dehumidified by cooling below the dew point temperature in typical air conditioning facility, it is necessary to examine the effectiveness of this approach since super-tall residential buildings have different sensible heat ratio than general low-rise buildings. In this study, to analyze the cooling and dehumidification characteristics of air-conditioning system by dehumidification type in super-tall residential buildings, indoor temperature and humidity according to the dehumidification type were analyzed. The cooling based dehumidification is advantageous in keeping indoor temperature at the set point temperature, but need to design SHR for super-tall residential buildings or use additional energy for control humidity. The desiccant dehumidification is advantageous in keeping low indoor humidity, but need to operating strategy or additional sensible cooling system for control temperature.
