Report Errors
The first in-space experiment for a space elevator, “Stars-ME” of Shizuoka Universiry in Japan has brought an attention on the feasibility of a space elevator. The concept of space elevator offers an alternative way for conventional space transportation systems, with less cost and more mass to the Earth orbit. However, there are only few preliminary research on many aspects of the space elevator such as the technology, concept of operations, economics, and construction. In this paper, the current level of enabling technology and necessary field of research are discussed.
