This paper examines the expressions of the five senses - visual, auditory, touch, taste, and olfactory sense, which are shown in Ming-era folk songs, focusing on Guazhi-er and Shange. Folk songs are inherently characteristic of realizing everyday life in realistic and realistic expression. The expressions of the five senses, which are reproduced in Ming-era folk songs, also move between the ‘direct presentation’ and ‘metaphoric expression’ of the object. The main theme of the work in Feng menglong’s folk song is mainly “Forbidden Love of Men and Women.” The five senses that appeared in Ming-era folk songs are mainly focused on the appearance and behavior of male and female figures and their emotions. In particular, the most densely shaped area utilizing the five senses is the affection of men and women. Among them, sexuality is most prominent. Folk songs also evoked individual sensory experiences in the reader’s mind with the use of complex images. And this caused empathy and fun. This paper presents the characteristics of visual, auditory, tactile, taste, and olfactory expressions and specific examples of them. Thus, the meaning of this paper can be found in the popular song of the Ming-era and the expanded understanding of folk literature.
