Childhood is a sensitive period that is highly influenced by the surrounding environment, and poverty and maltreatment experiences have a negative impact on subsequent development. Children who experience poverty or maltreatment do not all have the same desires, and their needs change as poverty or maltreatment change. Therefore, it is necessary to examine the changing patterns of poverty and maltreatment in a long term period. This study tried to examine the change trajectory in poverty and maltreatment for the children, and the relationship between two change trajectories by using semiparametric group-based model and the dual trajectory model. The results showed that the trajectories of change in child poverty were identified four groups and the trajectories of children’s experiences of maltreatment were identified in five groups. In addition, poverty-reduction group or poverty -maintenance group were more likely to belong to the group in which maltreatment occurred than the group in which poverty increased. This means that the initial poverty or the persistence of poverty is more related to maltreatment rather than the change in poverty. Based on these results, several policy implications were suggested.
