누에(Bombyx mori)가 견사를 내는 동안 이를 생성하는 견사선의 단백질 패턴의 변화양상을 보기 위해 polyacrylamide gel electrophoresis를 사용하여 견사선내 단백질, 복합단백질 및 효소의 활성도를 조사하였다. 견사선의 단백질 패턴의 변화는 gel의 중앙부위의 밴드가 견사생성 동안 감소되다가 견사생성의 완료와 더불어 없어졌다. 그러나 혈림프내 단백질은 전체적으로 뚜렷한 변화를 보여주지 않았다. glycoprotein은 견사생성초기에 많은 밴드가 확인되었고, lipoprotein은 전혀 확인되지 않았다.
