The granular formulation of 0.5% pyriproxyfen (Sumilarv) was tested on evaluation of activity of emergence inhibition against Aedes togoi at a laboratory, small artificial ponds and fresh water containers. In laboratory study, emergence inhibition rates at concentrations of 0.01,0.05 and 0.1 ppm were all 100.0% until 48 days after treatment whereas the rates were 87.0% in 35~41 days after treatment and 89.0% in 42~48 days after treatment at 0.01 ppm. The result showed that over 0.01 ppm was enough concentration to control Ae. togoi as 98.9% to 100.0% of total control of larvae and pupae in fresh water of the experimental condition. In artificial small pond assessment, adult emergence was completely inhibited for 3 weeks after treatment at 0.1 ppm. Also, all larvae, which did not grow into pupae, died in the ponds treated at tested concentrations including 0.05 ppm in the test period (6 weeks). The control rates of total larvae and pupae were 98.5~99.5% at 0.05~0.1ppm for the 6 weeks. In fresh water container at field site, the treatment of pyriproxyfen at the concentrate rate of 0.1 ppm produced 100.0% adult emergence inhibition rates between 6 days and 25 days after treatment. The high residual activity of pyriproxyfen granules was continued until the end of this test (76 days) as 90.6% of inhibition rate. It is suggested that the concentration for successive control of Ae. togoi for long term might be 0.05~0.1 mg/l of 0.5 % pyriproxyfen granules in fresh water.
