지리산에서 채집된 딱정벌레목 사슴벌레과에 속하는 Platycerus 속의 분류동정결과 신종으로 P. hongwonpyoi n.sp(원표애보라 사슴벌레, 신칭)가 밝혀졌으며, 항가리의 박물관에 소장되어있는 금강산에서 채집된 표본의 조사결과 이 신종의 아종으로 p. hongwonpyoi merkli n. ssp. (머클애보라 사슴벌레, 신칭)가 분류되어 그 형태적 특징이 기재되었다.
