This article examines the relationship between Jesus’ resurrection and the righteousness of believers in Romans 4:25b. To this end, this paper analyzes the analogical relationship among the resurrection of Jesus, righteousness as Christian’s Identity, and changed orientation of life in Romans 6:1-11, 8:1-11, 1 Corinthians 15:17-18 and 2 Corinthians 5:14-21. Based on the exegesis of these related texts, we can conclude that for Paul, the resurrection of Jesus as well as his death are closely related to the change of the identity of Christians, which is expressed in Paul’s term as the righteousness (δεδικαίωται [Rom 6:7]), δικαιοσύνη [Rom 8:10; 2Cor 5:21]). It is not entirely correct to say that the death of Jesus alone is the basis of the salvation of Christians. For Paul, the resurrection of Jesus is, on the one hand, related to the future resurrection of the believers, and on the other hand, is related to the present change of their identity and their way of life. Jesus Christ died for sin once for all and arose for God in glory, being recognized as the Son of God (Rom 6:10). This event of the resurrection of Jesus is the basis of and the paradigm for believers’ existential change and their new way of life.
