This study was conducted to investigate the effects of emotional support on the career preparation stress of university students. The sample of this study is 242 university students in the metropolitan area. It was hypothesized that self-efficacy will play a mediating role in the relationship between emotional support and career preparation stress was established. To confirm this, multiple regression analysis and mediating model analysis were conducted. The analysis results are as follows. First, emotional support had a positive (+) effect on self-efficacy. Second, there was no direct effect of college students’ perception of emotional support on career preparation stress. Third, it was found that the self-efficacy of college students had a significant effect on the reduction of career preparation stress. Fourth, self-efficacy plays a mediating role in the relationship between emotional support and career preparation stress. These findings imply that efforts to improve self-efficacy play an important role in reducing career preparation stress of college students, along with emotional support at the emotional level. This suggests that universities need to further expand the necessity of curriculum or related programs to promote a positive self-image for students and promote a sense of self-efficacy that is goal-oriented.
