Animal dissection experiment is an effective method to learn about anatomy and physiology of animals. Preserved dead animals and organs such as frogs, mice, pig’s heart and cow’s eye are used for dissection. Animal dissection experiments have been widely performed not just at schools for science classes but also at private educational institutes as popular extra-curricular activities. However, there is no prerequisite education on animal experiment ethics, and little information is available on dissection alternatives for students not willing to participate. Ministry of Agriculture, Food and Rural Affairs legislated against animal dissection experiment for minors in Animal Protection Act in 2018 and animal dissection for minors is banned from 2020.
