Obesity results from a chronic imbalance between energy intake and energy expenditure. This disease has become a main obstacle for a healthy life, since it is a known risk factor for metabolic disorders. Thus, there is intense interest in finding an effective anti-obesity agent derived from natural products. Salt marsh plants have unique physiological mechanisms that help them survive in harsh environments such as sea spry, high salinity, and direct sunlight.
