Alexandrium is one of major agents to cause marine harmful algal blooms and incur issues in public health such as paralytic shellfish poisoning. In this study, we have investigated the effect of keystone bacteria, Roseobacter, on the growth of Alexandrium with an optical microscope and a flow cytometer. After the co-culture with Roseobacter for 8 days, the growth of Alexandrium was promoted and the cell motility of Alexandrium was increased.
