Cell derived vesicles have been noted as emerging biomaterials as drug carriers, coating materials, and bioactive materials. Previously, cancer cell-derived vesicles were coated on the surface of polymeric micro-particles to increase surface roughness to provide efficient delivery to phagocytic cells e.g. macrophages and dendritic cells. We also prepared nano-sized vesicles from platelets as functional hemostatic biomaterials. Compared to platelets, platelet derived nanovesicles showed efficient hemostatic activity without release of inflammatory cytokines.
