Purpose
Hyalinizing trabecular Tumor (HTT) is rare tumor of thyroid gland. It is benign neoplasm of follicular cell origin. However, it is difficult to diagnose and it can be misdiagnosed as malignant thyroid tumor. The purpose of this study is to clarify clinical and radiological characteristics of HTT.
Method
We retrospectively reviewed medical records of six patients who were diagnosed as HTT after operation in Asan Medical Center from May 2002 to January 2012. Ultrasound findings including size, echogenicity, shape, margin orientation were investigated. Also pre-operative and intraoperative diagnoses were compared with final pathological diagnoses. One patient who was diagnosed as HTT by fine needle aspiration cytology without operation was excluded from the study.
Result
Median size of HTT was 22.5mm (8mm - 42mm). Total thyroidectomy was done in two patients (33.3%), lobectomy was done in four patients (66.6%). US findings of the tumors were as follows. Hypoechogenicity was present in 33.3% (2/6), marked hypoechogenicity was present in 50% (3/6). Ov ... 전체 초록 보기
