After Peter the Great took power in the late 17th century, Russia was blindly committed to modernization, a long process of transplanting Western institutions, customs and cultural consciousness in Russia. At the beginning of the 20th century, the first socialist revolution used to be regarded as a moment of overcoming the historical time-delay, but at this point we do not know whether Russia’s Modernity was just chasing Western Modernity or pursuing another timeliness. Khlebnikov is the main subject of this research, as we must inevitably explore the Russian trajectories of Modernity at the turn of the centuries in order to view the Post-Modern world. Compared to Husserl, who pursued a “Philosophie als strenge Wissenschaft,” we can see that they shared the similar problematics in different genres, and challenged to solve the problem of Modernity in different ways. Their virtual debate on phenomenalism and essentialism, philosophy or literature could enable us to have a new outlook on the present-day Russia and the West, which are on the threshold of a Post-Modernity.
