Pyropia(GIM) was the first fishery product to be cultivated and has a history of more than 380 years. Cultivation of Pyropia seems to have begun between 1623 and 1649 (Bae 1991, Chung 1937, Sohn 1996). Pyropia is the most economical seaweed species as it showed as 68% of the production in value.
