This selective breding study was performed to development breeding techniques and new varieties considering the genetic diversity though a combination of traditional selective breeding and molecular breeding. We carried out the study of this assignment followed for olive flounder and abalone, major aquaculture varieties in Korea. In the case of flounder breeding, we developed King Nupchi Halibut (a brand of fast-growing breeding flounder) that grows more than 30% faster than general flounder, 640 million fertilized eggs have been supplied to farming field since 2010. In 2020, King Nupchi Halibut was transfered to two private companies through the implementation of a state-owned patent for the first time in the fishery field of Korea. Also, the flounder VHSV artificial infection test secured resistant candidate families with a high survival rate, and the possibility of industrialization will be confirmed through verification of reproducibility.
