Gillnet fishermen catch snow crab, sandfish and flounder as target species depending on the fishing season in the East Sea. In this study, the comparison tests of fishing performance were conducted by used three shape types of gillnets (trammel net, tie-down gillnet, gillnet) with the same mesh size (90mm) and four types of tie-down gillnets with different mesh sizes (84, 90, 105, 120mm). The main target fish species was flounder. The sea trial was carried out using a commercial gillnet fishing vessel (4ton class) in the coastal sea of Yangyang-gun, Gangwon- do. the catches by caught in the experimental fishing nets were flounder (Glyptocephalus stelleri, Hippoglossoides dubius, etc.), spinyhead sculpin (Dasycottus setiger), schoolmaster gonate squid (Berryteuthis magister), Black edged sculpin (Gymnocanthus herzensteini), and others. The number of fish by species differed according to the type of experimental fishing net.
