The small-scale fisheries sector is important in Liberia's economy and accounting for 10% of the GDP with about 80% of the population trusting fish as a source of animal protein. Small-scale fisheries account for 80% of the national catch employing 5% of the economically active population. Fish is the creation’s most-traded food product with a worldwide seafood trade worth of about $141.6 billion in 2016. Associated to industrial fisheries, Small- scale fisheries provide about 90% of creation fisheries engagement, provide extra food, and it is relatively less environmentally damaging. The fisheries sector provides means of income for 33,000 fishers and workstations in Liberia, 60% are women in the small-scale sector. The small-scale fisheries are categorized by low-slung capital, labor-intensive, inaccessible landing sites, fights, and post-harvest difficulties such as decay and surplus in Liberia normally and West Point landing sites mainly. The small-scale fisheries sector is open accessed and accomplished below an easy organization system. This easy organization system stands self-organizing nevertheless important to unmaintainable use of the fisheries resources, due to the use of gill nets, set net, ring net, beach seine, hook and line methods. There are narrow studies on the use of the small- scale fisheries resources through the easy self-governance system.
