Fish meal (FM) is widely used as an important protein source in formulated feed for marine fish culture. However, the production of FM has been stagnant or reduced due to the recent overfishing of fishery resource in wild due to reduction in fishery resources and abnormal climate change. With the high demand for FM, the global market price of FM is continued to increase. Meat meal (MM) is known as a good alternative source for FM in aquafeed. Dietary substitution effect of MM for FM on the growth, feed efficiency, body composition, haematology and non-specific immune response of rockfish (Sebastes schlegelii) was determined. A total of 630 fish (initial weight of 2.3 g) were randomly distributed into 21, 50 L plastic container (thirty fish/container). Seven experimental diets were prepared. The Control (Con) diet contained 55% FM, 12% fermented soybean meal, 4.5% fish oil and 4.5% soybean oil as protein and lipid sources, respectively. Ten, 20, 40, 60, 80 and 100% FM in the Con diet were substituted with MM, referred to as the MM10, MM20, MM40, MM60, MM80 and MM100 diets, respectively. All experimental diets were assigned to triplicate groups of rockfish. Fish were fed with one of the experimental diets twice a day to satiety for 8 weeks. Survival of fish was not significantly affected by the experimental diets. The greatest weight gain and specific growth rate (SGR) were obtained in fish fed the MM10 diet, followed by the MM40, MM20, MM60, Con, MM80 and MM100 diets, in that order. Weight gain ... 전체 초록 보기
