The purpose of this paper was to analyze the effect of volunteer activity participation on student’s sense of community. To do this, generalized propensity score weighting was adapted to analyze KCYPS data. The main results of this study were as follows. First, the results showed that volunteer activity participation with voluntary motivation had positive effects on student’s sense of community. Students who participated volunteer activity with voluntary motivation showed more positive changes than non-participated students did. But students who participated volunteer activity with mandatory motivation had no difference with non-participated students. Second, differential effects by participation time and satisfaction on volunteer activity were analyzed. The results showed that the effects of participation time were not significant, but the effects of satisfaction were statistically significant. As the satisfaction on volunteer activity increased, the effects of volunteer activity participation on sense of community came to be larger. Finally, based on these results, policy implications were suggested.
