The quality of frozen dog semen has been an essential factor for the transportation of chosen male dogs for reproduction via artificial insemination. One of the critical properties of fresh doge semen is its longevity at lowered temperature. This phenomenon was utilized for proper reproduction of bitch with a more extended period of the estrus, 10 to 15 days, than the cow. So, the pooled semen of one breeding dog guarantees the successful rate of pregnancy. In this study, we tested the possible usage of astaxanthin, as a non-toxic additive of anti-aging chemicals, on the longevity of fresh dog semen.
