The purpose of this study is to identify the mediating effects of family resilience and calling consciousness on a relationship between pastor’s stress and burnout. First, this study conducted a theoretical consideration on pastor’s stress, burnout, family resilience, and calling consciousness. Also, this study inferred the mediating effects of family resilience and calling consciousness on stress and burnout based on precedent studies. A relationship between each variable was verified through correlation analysis and structural equation modeling. Also, this study identified mediating effects of family resilience and calling consciousness using Sobel test, and the research results are as follows. First, a relationship between pastor’s stress, family resilience, and calling consciousness showed a negative correlation, and showed a positive correlation with psychological burnout. Secondly, family resilience and psychological burnout of pastor showed a negative correlation. Also, it was identified that family resilience reduces pastor’s stress and acts as a buffer against psychological burnout of pastor as it mediates a relationship between pastor’s stress and psychological burnout. Thirdly, calling consciousness did not have any mediating effect on a relationship between pastor’s stress and psychological burnout. Fourthly, among subfactors of pastor’s stress, it was identified that pastors perceive stress in the order of pastoral activity > economic problem > pastor himself. Finally, the implications and limitations of this study and follow-up studies were discussed.
