Continued oxidative stress by β-amyloid peptide(Aβ) leads to mitochondrial dysfunction and neuronal cell death, which in turn causes Alzheimer’s disease. The neuroprotective effect of sargahydroquinoic acid isolated from brown algae was determined to elucidate the antioxidant properties against Aβ<SUB>25–35</SUB>-evoked damage in PC12 cells. The compound inhibited Aβ-induced oxidative stress, mitochondrial dysfunction, and apoptosis. The compound increased Nrf2 nuclear localization and Nrf2-targeted phase-II antioxidant enzymes including HO-1, NQO1, GCLc, GCLm, and TrxR1. In cont ... 전체 초록 보기
