Protein hydrolysates of silkworm pupae (Bombyx mori) are known to have diverse pharmacological activities. In the present study, we hypothesized that protein hydrolysates of silkworm pupae (SP), which have been previously reported to exhibit scavenging activity toward reactive oxygen species, might protect liver cells against oxidative stress-induced cytotoxicity. Therefore, the hepatoprotective effect of protein hydrolysates of SP was investigated in H₂O₂-treated AML12 mouse hepatocytes.
