Polyamines such as spermidine and spermine are known to prolong lifespan and suppress age-related phenotypes. Castanea crenata flowers have a unique fragrance that is assumed to be caused by nature polyamines, but the amount of polyamines and their anti-aging effects are not yet explored. We analyzed major polyamines in Castanea crenata flower extract (CCFE) using LC-MS/MS and the result showed that the contents of spermidine, spermine, and cadaverine were 9.69, 3.17, and 2.65 μg/g, respectively.
