This study was performed with data obtained from monitoring the soil chemical properties of rice paddy soils in Ganghwa. One hundred and fourteen soil sampling sites were selected from different regional and topological areas from 2014 to 2018. Soil pH value tended to increase gradually within the optimal pH range. The concentrations of organic matter (OM) and available phosphate (P2O5) were lower than the standard concentrations, but the contents of exchangeable cations were higher than those of the standard, showing significant differences. The average value of available silicate (SiO2) content was found to be proper within the standard concentrations. There were no significant changes in the contents of pH and OM according to soil texture. However, the available P2O5 and exchangeable cations were significantly different among different soil textures. The contents of exchangeable cations in sandy loam soil were significantly lower than those in loam and silt loam. The soil pH and OM also showed no differences according to the soil topological analysis results. The available P2O5 content was significantly higher at mountain foothills and the exchangeable K and Mg contents were more accumulated in the marine plains. Based on the results of regional analysis, Naega-myeon showed highest pH values and the exchangeable Mg and available P2O5 contents tended to be increased in Gyodong-myeon than other regions . The insufficient portions of OM and available P2O5 were 47.0% and 84.7%, respectively, in 2018. The available SiO2 value had a significantly positive correlation with soil pH and exchangeable Ca contents when subjected to a correlation matrix and principal component analyses. The reason for this correlation is thought to be that silicate fertilizer can increase the concentration of exchangeable Ca and pH value.
