Purpose: The purpose of this study was to investigate the influences of depression, life stress, self-esteem, and alcohol use on their suicidal ideation of nursing students. Methods: The subjects were 105 nursing students and conducted a questionnaire survey in October 2019. Descriptive statistics, Pearson’s correlation coefficients, and stepwise multiple regression were conducted using SPSS 25. Results: The results were as follows. There were differences in suicidal ideation according to gender and grade of nursing students, and their depression, life stress, self-esteem, and alcohol use were significantly correlated with suicidal ideation. The factors affecting nursing students’ suicidal ideation were depression and self-esteem, which showed 39.9% of explanatory power. Conclusion: Intervention programs for reducing depression and improving nursing students’ self-esteem are required to prevent their suicide. Nursing students’ gender and grade should be considered when choosing program participants.
