The purpose of this study is to investigate on the relationship between infant-mother attachment type and play characteristics. The subjects of the study were 125 five-year-old children, 60 of which are boys and 65 are girls. Research data were collected using the 'Attachment Story Completion Test' and the 'Child Play Scale', and were analyzed for correlation. The results of this study showed that when infants formed stable attachments with their mothers, they had a positive effect on play characteristics than infants who formed anxiety avoidance attachments and anxiety contradictory attachments. Therefore, when the infant-mother stable attachment is formed, the child’s play ability will be active, and a variety of play behaviors to think and express appropriately to the situation can be promoted.
