Based on "Kiyōchawa Jakyōshimatsu", this paper considers the main argument of the anti-christian movement during the early meiji era and attempts to discover the significance of anti-christian literatures as research data. "Kiyōchawa Jakyōshimatsu", a compilation of "Kiyōchawa" and "Jakyōshimatsu", is a book written to criticize the Christian (Catholicism and Protestantism) missionaries and warn the danger the Christian discipline may bring to Japan. This article mainly focuses on examining the contents of "Kiyōchawa". "Kiyōchawa" is classified as a late (pre-modern Japan’s independent) type of Anti-Christian work given that it explicitly mentions the creations in the Old Testament, the ten commandments, and Jesus from the New Testament. By examining the contents in depth, we obtained various information about the situation of Christianity during the end of the Shogunate and early Meiji period. First, we were able to confirm the existence of an agent who monitored Catholic missionary activities at the beginning of the Meiji period. We were also able to see how the Protestant missionaries propagated christianity and the title of the booklet that the missionaries used. In terms of the overall content, the contrary disciplines of Christianity and the Confucian values, ​​such as loyalty and filial piety, were used as the general idea of Christian rejection which allows us to assume the main argument of the Anti-Christian movement at the time.
