This study is conducted to look into the effects of a gyrotonic system on Cobb's angle of patients with scoliosis for 12 weeks and find the differences in Cobb's angle before and after exercise in terms of types of scoliosis. The subject of investigation included 55 patients with scoliosis who have come from W hospital. They were divided into three groups(control group, n=14; S type scoliosis group, n=20; C type scoliosis group, n=21). S & C type scoliosis groups were performed Gyrotonic training twice a week for 12 weeks. The following results are obtained. First, the group with gyrotonic showed a significant difference in Cobb's angle improvements. Second, the gyrotonic group and the control group showed a significant difference in Cobb's angle changes of pre- and post examination. Third, the S type scoliosis group and C type scoliosisl group showed no significant difference in Cobb's angle changes. According to the findings above, the gyrotonic system helps improve Cobb's angle regardless of the curvature types of patients with adolescent idiopathic scoliosis. As adolescents can have scoliosis, the early detection is important and the gyrotonic system should be actively used to prevent and improve scoliosis along with the perception that active exercise can improve the scoliosis.
